EEO Commitment & Non-Discrimination Policy
(updated January 23, 2021)
Mechanical Trades Institute - Joint Apprenticeship and Training Trust, (MTI-JATT), extends equal employment opportunity to all apprentices in full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws prohibiting discrimination based on race, color, sex, pregnancy, age, religion, national origin, disability, or any other legally protected characteristic.
MTI-JATT is committed to complying fully with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and ensuring equal opportunity nondiscriminatory employment practices for qualified persons with disabilities. Pre-employment inquiries are made only regarding an individual's ability to perform the essential duties of the position. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with known disabilities unless providing accommodation would result in an undue hardship to the training center.
Any form of harassment based on an individual's race, color, sex, pregnancy, religion, national origin, age, disability, or any other legally protected characteristic, will not be tolerated. For purposes of this policy, the term "harassment" includes slurs and other offensive remarks, jokes, or other verbal, graphic, or physical conduct. Harassment also includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, unwelcome, or offensive touching and other unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature. Any form of harassment will not be tolerated towards any other apprentice, school staff, or any other persons (vendors, applicants, visitors, etc.) at any of the school campuses.
Any incidents of sexual or other unlawful harassment should be reported immediately to the school's administration. An investigation of any complaint will be undertaken promptly, and anyone found to be engaging in sexual or other unlawful harassment will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Complaints of and investigations regarding reports of discrimination or harassment will be kept as confidential as is practically possible.
Reports of unlawful discrimination or harassment should be made without fear of reprisal; MTI-JATT will not retaliate against any apprentice who makes a good faith complaint of unlawful discrimination or harassment.
MTI-JATT recognizes that the issue of whether discrimination or harassment has occurred requires a factual determination based on all the evidence received. MTI-JATT also recognizes that false accusations of discrimination or harassment can have serious effects on innocent men and women. We expect that all apprentices will continue to act in a responsible and professional manner to establish a pleasant school and work environment.
