All information must be submitted in English
To qualify to be an apprentice you MUST:
- Be at least 18 years old and provide a birth certificate
- Be a High School Graduate or have passed the GED
- Take an aptitude test (administered by the Georgia Department of Labor)
- Pass a drug test
- Complete and submit an application
- Have a Valid Drivers License
- Must report for interview, when notified. Notification will be by certified mail to the address indicated at time of application.
- Must certify you have reliable transportation to all locations that are in the Local 72 jurisdications and at all times to participate in the program (a jurisdiction map will be provided at the time of application).
If selected for the program, Apprentices MUST:
- Serve a probationary apprenticeship for 1 year (all first year wages and benefits apply)
- Serve a 5-year apprenticeship (including probation)
- Report to work regularly and on time
- have reliable transportation to all locations in the Local 72 jurisdictions and at all times to participate in the program (a jurisdiction map will be provided at the time of application).
- Work under the direction of a Journeyman and perform satisfactorily.
- Attend all related training classes and maintain a minimum average of 70 in each class
- Purchase all required text materials used in related training classes
- Attend orientation
- Abide by all rules and regulations of the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Trust
Applicants not accepted may appeal, in writing, your rejection to the Executive Director. Failure of drug test or failure to pass the aptitude test is not grounds for an appeal. Apeals must be received in the Executive Director's office no later than fifteen (15) days after receipt of notice of rejection.
